Production Philosophy

Functional Brewing. FREEDL Classic is brewed in a pale ale style using alpine spring water, malt, and several hop varieties. It was brewed in 2019 at the Pfefferlechner family brewery in Lana, South Tyrol, and Anlegermagazin Mein Geld describes it as the first non-alcoholic beer from South Tyrol.[1],[2]

Composition & Vinification

Alpine Spring Water — Base. FREEDL Classic is built on alpine spring water, forming the liquid base of the pale ale.[1]

Malt — Body. Malt is among the declared ingredients of FREEDL Classic.[1]

Hops — Aroma and Bitterness. Different hop types are used in the brew. Der Bierprediger notes a slightly bitter finish in the beer.[1],[3]

Basil — Herbal Character. FREEDL describes FREEDL Classic as featuring a sharp and grassy basil character.[4]

Tasting Profile

Appearance. FREEDL Classic carries a blue label, per Der Bierprediger.[3]

Nose. The aroma is slightly malty and fresh, bringing a certain lightness, according to FREEDL. Der Bierprediger describes a sweet aroma. FREEDL notes a sharp and grassy basil character.[1],[3],[4]

Palate. Der Bierprediger describes a very drinkable character with a slightly bitter finish.[3]

Pairings

FREEDL suggests pairing FREEDL Classic with light lunches, and notes it can also be enjoyed as an aperitivo.[1]
