Tea master Masakatsu Ota has been involved in tea production since age 15, founded the 'Tenryu Tea Research Association' (天竜茶研究会) in 1996 to improve production techniques and promote branding, and received the Yellow Ribbon Medal (黄綬褒章) in 2015 for his contributions to elevating Tenryu tea as a premium brand.
