Background
Training. Andrea Frigerio came to brewing by way of the kitchen. He attended culinary school and worked briefly in kitchens before studying Food Technology at the University of Milan, where he discovered home brewing.[1]
Brewing career. Frigerio also studied in Berlin, and worked as a brewer in Rome. He spent years at Birrificio Rurale before leading a production reorganization at Birradamare in Rome that doubled the brewery's output. He is described as a food technologist with a past as a beer producer and as a sommelier.[2],[3]
Role & Contribution
Perspective. Frigerio positions FERAL's drinks outside the logic of substitution: he says the company does not want to imitate wine, but to propose a one-of-a-kind experience rather than a surrogate such as dealcoholized wine.[2]
