Bertrand Michat

Bertrand Michat is a native of Valence and is based in Saint-Péray, in the Ardèche. In a September 2024 interview he said he had by then worked in the beverage sector for 25 years.^[1],[2]

Michat is a founder of Granith, whose range comprises Granith Blanc, Granith Rouge and Granith Rosé Pétillant. He credits the alcohol-free drinks served in Northern European gastronomic restaurants as the inspiration for creating it.^[2]

He says he began experimenting with recipes in late 2019, working toward a lingering finish and a not-very-sweet taste in a creation meant to accompany meals. Among his materials is verjus, the tart juice extracted from grapes that ripened imperfectly.^[3]

Granith was founded in Saint-Péray by Michat together with oenologist Mariela Molinari.
